Furniture Painting

Back in the spring, I played with painting some furniture - using chalk paint. I have been wanting to do this for over a year and just hadn't gotten to it. With the majority of my French Country done, I was contemplating this. I bought several colors of Chalk paint from Joann's and pulled out some of the inexpensive furniture I have had for years.

Still in the works, I was experimenting with base colors and sanding, and top colors...I have also purchased some small wood and metal embellishments and have some ideas on adding them and then painting over them. I haven't done that yet....

  1. Hi Heidi! The furniture looks great in the chalk paint colors you've chosen! I bet it feels great to make progress toward getting the decor pieces ready to go into the rooms!
The roof shingles also turned out great in spite of the messy challenges! When I had to stain the roof on the Storybook Cottage, I resorted to applying the shingles before staining, then stained them with Minwax stain pens while they were on the roof. This worked out really great and may be something that might work for you next time, too!

  3. Hi Jodi- thanks for your comments! I am still playing with the chalk paint...bought a few more colors and hope to experiment soon! As for the shingles...arghhh. Yeah, on my Country French house, I glued the shingles, and then color washed them....that was fun!! I had to tape the rest of the exterior, which I had already completed, so that I didn't mess that up.

    Carrie - Yup, still playing!
