Chateau Courtyard and Quoins

As the exterior texture was done, I moved on to the courtyard and laying the slate. After laying, I applied the Mod Podge Ultra Matte, and then grouted, followed by a sealer layer of Mod Podge.

The quoins were painted white, and looked pretty stark against the dark grey house, and it seemed fitting that I give them a more grey tone, more like stone. I used a similar technique on them as what I used on the French Country - stippling.

All in all, I'm very pleased with the exterior!

Exterior work

The shingles are done, quoins are on, the chimneys are on!

I have 2 upper dormer walls to finish with texture - visible from the sides of the house.

I'm still thinking about some sort of crown/dentil molding at the top peak on the front.

Front of Thornhill finishing touches

I got the foundation painted. I used a couple different things, and ended up using Duncan Granite Stone - color Sand. I really like the finished effect. Here's the front.

Here's a more closeup view of the finish, along with the steps that I have to decide how to finish.

And here's my next dilemma - how to deal with the gable peak. It turns out that I finished the exterior of the gable peak - notice top photo. But the instructions call to add another triangle, and dentil trim. This then forces the top gable peak to protrude farther than the rest of the front. I'm not entirely sure I want to do this.

Here's a picture of the Duncan product I used on the foundation:
